Description

This instrument was collected in the field by Percy Horace Gordon and Hannah Powell-Cotton. It is a recycled rattle, presumably made as a costume dance accessory, made out of a tin can of "Uncle Sam Shoe Polish." Both parts of the can (lid and container) were bent in half with small stone pebbles trapped inside for rattling effect, and are bound with a strip of partially haired hide.
