Description

This instrument was collected in the field by Percy Horace Gordon and Hannah Powell-Cotton. It is a small end-blown flute, or whistle ("ugwana"), made of wood with a conical shape, having a small and slanted exit hole at the pointed end, and three fingerholes. The open end of the tube, through which the player blows, is wrapped in vegetable fibers. There is a strap cord attached to a carved protuberance.
