Description
"Shaken vessel rattle. Used in the Kayamba dance and the Sengenya dance; the players play several kayamba's together. Also used in church (catholic and protestant). Traditionally made by the Giriama; used now by all communities in church. Original manufacture: sisal strings instead of nylon. The current kayamba is an experimental version, larger than standard, not played on."
