Description
The jochok is a ritual object lighting the venue for the orchestra to perform in the night time. It notifies the beginning and the end of the music as the hwi does. A candle is inside the box made of red silk and attaced to the long stick. The musicians were not able to see the hwi in the dark, so the jochok was used with the hwi.
