Description

This instrument was collected in the field by Percy Horace Gordon Powell-Cotton. It is an idiochord stick-zither made from a raffia palm stem, in which the strings are cut from the bark of the same stem, having a central notched bridge, four strings, and twelve adjustable frets made of partial-plaited rattan. There is one gourd resonator attached with cloth thread, with a purposely-cut soundhole. The instrument is played with the gourd held against the player's chest.
