Description
This instrument was used in the choir of the Selsley Chapel, some time prior to 1900. It is a thirteen-key clarinet made entirely of brass, in three sections (barrel, top and bottom body joints). The integral bell is soldered to the body joint, and there are two ligature-screw joints for the body and barrel. The saltspoon-cup keys are mounted in posts with rods, and have flat and needle springs attached to them. The low E3/B4 and F3-sharp/C4-sharp keys have brass rollers on the touches. The throat A-flat key is straight. There is a brille key on the lower joint. Nominal pitch: E-flat.
