Description

This instrument might be associated with the Cyfarthfa Band, one of the greatest and oldest virtuoso nineteen-century brass bands, founded in 1838 by iron magnate Robert Thompson Crawshay. It is one of the very few surviving early 19th century slide tenor trombones in C, widely used in British bands, made entirely of brass in two sections (slide section and bell section), joined by a tenon-socket joint. There is no water-key or main tuning slide.
